SurgicalRx PRIME - FAQs
About the Program
What is the PRIME program?
PRIME is a personalized surgery preparation program built around two things that research shows make a real difference in surgical outcomes: prehab exercise and perioperative nutrition. Based on your onboarding survey, we build you a customized daily plan to follow in the weeks leading up to your surgery.
How is my plan personalized?
Your onboarding survey tells us your surgery type, your current mobility and fitness baseline, and your nutrition needs. We use that information to build your exercise protocol and nutrition targets specifically for you — not a generic plan.
Does my plan change over time?
Yes. Your prehab exercises are designed to progress week over week, gradually increasing in reps and intensity. The goal is to build strength and function progressively as you get closer to your surgery date.
What if my surgery date changes?
No problem. You can update your surgery date inside the app and your entire program will automatically recalculate and adjust to your new timeline.
Daily Checklist
What is the daily checklist?
Your checklist is a short list of daily tasks — typically a movement goal, a prehab exercise, and a nutrition target — that you check off each day. It's designed to take just a few minutes and keep you on track without overwhelming you.
Do I have to complete every task every day?
We strongly encourage it. Consistency is what drives results here. That said, if you miss a day, don't stress — just pick back up the next day. Every completed task counts.
Can I go back and complete tasks from a previous day?
Yes. Past days remain accessible and you can still mark tasks complete even if you missed them.
Protocol Page
What is the Protocol page?
The Protocol page gives you a week-by-week overview of how your program is structured from today through your surgery date. It shows how your exercise targets and nutrition goals evolve over time.
Can I print my protocol?
No — tracking must be completed digitally inside the app. This ensures your progress is accurately recorded and visible to your care team and surgeon's office. If you're having trouble accessing the app, reach out to our tech support team and we'll get it sorted.
Required Education
What is the Required Education section?
Required Education is a short collection of lessons that walk you through how to use the app and explain the most important things to know about preparing for surgery. We strongly recommend completing it before anything else — it takes about 15 minutes and sets the foundation for your entire program.
Do I have to complete the Required Education to use the app?
It's not required to access your daily checklist, but it's strongly recommended. It gives you the why and how behind everything you'll be doing — and patients who complete it tend to stay more consistent throughout the program.
Learn Library
What is the Learn library?
The Learn library is a growing collection of articles on perioperative nutrition, prehab, recovery, and surgical preparation. New content is added weekly. The Recommended for You section surfaces the articles most relevant to your specific surgery and survey responses.
Functional Check-Ins
What is a functional check-in?
Every fifth day, a brief check-in will appear in your dashboard. It takes just a few minutes and asks about your pain levels, function, and how the program is going. This helps our coaches monitor your progress and make sure you're on track.
Do I have to complete it on the day it appears?
No. If you miss it, it will stay in your dashboard until you complete it. That said, please complete it as soon as possible — regular check-ins are an important part of how we monitor and support you throughout the program.
Care Coordination Team
Who is the SurgicalRx care team?
Our care coordination team is made up of trained health coaches who specialize in surgery preparation and recovery. They are experts in perioperative nutrition and prehab, trained by industry-leading physical therapists and registered dietitians focused specifically on surgical optimization.
How do I contact my care team?
Message them directly inside the app at any time. You can ask questions about your exercises, nutrition targets, or anything related to your program.
Can I schedule a phone call or check-in with my coach?
Absolutely — and we encourage it. If you'd like to connect one-on-one, just send your coach a message inside the app and they'll get something scheduled with you.
Will my coach reach out to me?
Yes. Your coach will proactively check in with you periodically throughout the program to see how things are going. You don't have to wait for them to reach out — message anytime.
Using the App — Technical Tips
Is this an app I download from the App Store?
No — PRIME is a web app, which means it runs directly in your phone or tablet's internet browser (like Safari or Chrome). You don't need to download anything from the App Store or Google Play. Just open your browser, go to your PRIME link, and log in.
What's the easiest way to access the app each day?
The easiest way is through your daily text message. Every day, you'll receive a text reminder from SurgicalRx that includes a direct link to your PRIME dashboard. Just tap the link and you'll be taken straight in — no login required. Make it part of your routine: when the text comes in, tap the link and check off your tasks.
How do I save the app to my home screen?
We recommend saving PRIME to your home screen so it's always one tap away:
- iPhone (Safari): Tap the share icon at the bottom of your screen, then tap "Add to Home Screen."
- Android (Chrome): Tap the three dots in the top right corner, then tap "Add to Home Screen."
Do I need to create an account or download anything to get started?
No download needed. You'll receive a link to access your program. From there, log in with the credentials you set up during enrollment.
The app doesn't look right on my screen. What should I do?
PRIME is designed to work best on a smartphone or tablet. Try these steps:
- Make sure you're using an up-to-date browser (Safari or Chrome work best)
- Try refreshing the page
- If you're on a desktop or laptop, try switching to your phone instead
- If the issue persists, contact our tech support team by text or email
I got logged out. How do I get back in?
Go back to your PRIME link and log in with your email and password. If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot Password" option on the login screen. The easiest fix is to tap the link in your most recent daily text message — it will take you directly to your dashboard without needing to log in manually. Still stuck? Text or email our support team.
Can I use PRIME on my computer instead of my phone?
Yes — the web app works on desktop and laptop browsers as well. However, it's optimized for mobile and will look and feel best on a smartphone or tablet.
My checklist isn't loading or something seems wrong with my tasks. What should I do?
First, try refreshing the page or closing and reopening your browser. If the problem continues, reach out to our tech support team. Don't skip your tasks in the meantime — let us know and we'll make sure nothing gets lost.
I'm not very comfortable with technology. Can someone help me get set up?
Of course. Text or email our support team and we'll personally walk you through getting the app set up on your device. We work with patients of all comfort levels and are happy to take it step by step with you.
I'm more comfortable talking on the phone than using the app. Is that okay?
Absolutely. While the app is the primary way we communicate and track your progress, we completely understand that some patients prefer to talk. Just send us a message or text our support line and we'll arrange a phone call with your coach.
Technical Support
I'm having a technical issue with the app. What should I do?
Reach out to our support team by email at support@surgicalrx.com or by text at (602) 429-9127. We'll get you taken care of quickly.
What's the difference between tech support and the care team?
Simple rule: if it's a program question — exercises, nutrition, how to use a feature — message your care team inside the app. If it's a technical issue — something isn't loading, you can't log in, something looks broken — contact tech support by email or text.
